SEACOM starts using UltraMAP's AssetMonitor to help protect cable landings on the East Coast of Africa.
SEACOM is a privately owned and operated panâÂÂAfrican ICT enabler heavily involved in developing the African internet.
The SEACOM submarine fibre optic network system was launched on 23 July 2009. The cable network connects South Africa, Eastern Africa, Europe and Southern Asia, covering a distance of over 17,000km of submarine cable.
SEACOM wants to protect its network from being damaged by vessel activity, so in Q2 2015 as part of a phased approach to monitoring, SEACOM started using AssetMonitor for a number of their landings on the East African Coast.
To provide the best AIS cover possible, SEACOM installed AIS receivers at each the landing points and with UltraMAP’s help connected the live AIS data feeds to AssetMonitor
