Back in the UK after a successful Submarine Networks World conference in Singapore

Last month UltraMAP travelled to Singapore with partners SeaGard to exhibit at the 20th anniversary of the Submarine Networks World conference.

Back in the UK after a successful Submarine Networks World conference in Singapore

We attended the conference full of expectation that we’d... a) meet lots of good colleagues from the Subsea Networks community who’ve become friends of ours over the years; b) meet lots of new contacts in the industry; and c) have a great time in Singapore. All three expectations were met!

This was the 20th anniversary of the Submarine Networks World conference and it was bigger and better than ever. It has grown in terms of numbers attending and ambition even since last year when it first moved to the giant Suntec City Conference Centre with the world’s biggest video wall at its entrance.

This was a well organised event with some fun elements added in such as a cocktail reception at the top of One Raffles Place... but business was good too. It was a very busy event.

There was great emphasis being put on Risk Aversion at this event. With more and more internet providers looking for better and stable communications links, everyone is looking for ways to protect their cables from vessel damage and to avoid their cables being hit.

So it is now a good time for UltraMAP to be the one’s providing the monitoring solution AssetMonitor, that removes some of that risk.

For the first time we also had Liezl from SeaGard’s Philippines office on our stand... or the ‘Shouty Lady’ as we referred to her during demonstrations because of her role as manager of the monitoring team in the Philippines. Aaron Mair and Callum Mair from SeaGard also attended with Aaron taking the opportunity of doing some cable awareness visits to Hong Kong and Singapore.

All in all this was a very good event and one we’ll return to next year, looking forward to seeing what new things have been added to Singapore.
